How to keep your introvert energy topped up…
There are some pretty simple strategies that we introverts can employ to monitor and preserve our energy levels. The challenge is to put ourselves first and actually remember to use them and to use the information that we learn about ourselves to be our best selves every day.
Here are the things that I TRY to use (but sometimes don’t until it is too late…)
1. Your diary or calendar is your best friend! Be adept at spacing out your commitments so your system has recovery time across a day or a week.
2. Honour your boundaries! How do you feel when you think about saying ‘Yes’? Anxious? Exhausted? Drained? If so, that’s most likely a ‘No’.
3. Keep an energy log. Become aware of what or who drains you and how quickly! Use this understanding to help you plan your time.
4. Figure out if it is a particular sense that drains you… Too much noise? Too much visual stress? Screen time? Busy places? Too many people, too close?
5. Space out activities across the day and try not to rush from one thing to another without a break.
6. Plan in restorative time. What activities recharge your battery? What helps you get ‘in flow?’ Do you need to nap during the day?
7. Get those you live with on board with what you need when you need to recharge.
8. Have a ‘down time’ place where you can get the R & R that you need, whether it is a special place, a chair or the car!
9. Get outside! Take a walk, stroll in the garden and see what changes you notice or just open a window and breathe in some fresh air!
10. Have a positive introvert mindset! Your needs are important! This is an essential part of your self care routine.
I hope you will try and use any of these that resonate with you, to ensure that you keep your energy levels topped up and you can get on with your day! Don’t hesitate to get in touch if I can help you further! Keep following me on Instagram @joslessor for Midlife and Introvert tips and offers!
